How are your new year resolutions coming along?
You don't have to respond to this email, but I'd love it if you do.
At the beginning of every new year, people write out new resolutions — new dreams are birthed, and sometimes, old dreams spill over to the new year. However, not everyone has the discipline to follow through and make these dreams a reality. In this email, I will share a few tips to help you achieve your goals.
In December 2024, I decided that I was going to use my clout to help others by following up with them and seeing how well they fare with actualizing their New Year resolutions. This decision came on the back of two things:
I acknowledged that not everyone has the willpower to achieve without a little push. I wanted to be that push.
I felt it would be an avenue to connect deeper with my followers through my writing.
So, here I am doing what I resolved to do this year. I intend to continue it till the end of the year.
Let’s get to business.
How far have you gone with the actualization of your goals? Have you started making any plans to actualize them?
Here are a few tips you could use:
Take out goals that may not be feasible and focus on the ones you can achieve. Be honest with yourself and take out goals that you know may not be feasible this year. I remember wanting to learn French in 2024. But I just could not because I had committed to learning other skills. I learned how to play the guitar and also doubled down on my Salesforce Administration skills. But guess what? I have started the journey again this year. I don’t know how well I’d do, but I am willing to go harder this year. So, be honest with yourself to be sure that you can achieve your goals in 2025. And when you do, go hard at them.
Discipline yourself. More often than not, actualizing your goals will translate to doing things you are not used to. And this would mean fighting yourself. Your mind, in seeking comfort, will persuade you to ignore the hard work and rather do the “little you can”. Well, that is a lie. Do not do the little you can. You can do much more than you think you can. You only need to discipline yourself.
Focus on your goals. There are so many machinations specifically created to steal our attention today. I still struggle with Instagram. I come on the app every day and try my best to leave, but I end up spending more time than I should. It is exhausting. And frankly, it poses a threat to the actualization of my goals. So, I may be taking a break from Instagram soon.
Again, I’d love to have your response to this email. I plan to be consistent in sending emails to you.
Talk to you soon.

Hello Toyosi,
Thank you for your mail. I tried to make my resolutions as simple as possible, but I still find it so hard to be consistent, especially in physical exercise. I keep on procrastinating until the time goes and then I use the excuse of time. I will have to be more disciplined, reduce my reading of novels that distract me and stop making excuses for myself. Thank you for that timely reminder.
Also, I am learning French as well and tbh it is very interesting and challenging. I think you will enjoy that journey and I wish you good luck(je te souhaite bonne chance).
Hi Toyosi,
This was one mail and article that made my day.
Well, my goals are coming in a little handy.... Some are being crushed, some tend to look a little infeasible at the moment.
I will implement the tip of taking out some to allow me focus.
Thank you for reaching out.
Cheers to more productivity!
